Get Involved

Doing it for the kids
Like most youth sports programs, the GYSA is entirely comprised of volunteers. We donate our time to ensure the young players in our town have a strong support network helping them to develop, be challenged and succeed.

Here are just a few of the other ways you can get involved:
• Join Board
• Team formation committee
• Referee
• Fundraising

Join The Board
There would be no Georgetown Youth Soccer if it wasn’t for the hard work, dedication and sacrifice of our Board of Directors. Our Board handles all the behind the scenes work to ensure that our kids get the most out of soccer every spring and fall. Please meet our Board!

Team formation committee
Fielding competitive teams that respect a player’s ability.
The GYSA Board is responsible for establishing a Team Formation Committee (TFC) which will form all travel teams from G4 and older. The TFC uses the input from Evaluations and feedback from the coaches around the end of Spring season to determine player strength and appropriate competitive placement of players on GYSA teams. Teams must comply with the minimum requirements and regulations of ECYSA and operate in good faith to ensure a fair level of competition with other towns in the ECYSA league. The actions and decisions of the TFC will remain confidential until the Team Rosters are officially released by GYSA to the coaches.

For more information on the TFC please contact us.

Referee
Referees are a vital part of our game. They implement the rules, make sure the players are qualified and their equipment is correct, and that the game is played in a fair and competitive manner. Georgetown has it's own crop of referees that officiate our G2 In-town league. We like these referees to be players in the G8 level and this is a great way to further learn the game.

Fundraising
The GYSA Board is always interested in fresh and interesting ways of raising money to benefit our players, coaches and programs. In 2014 we held a Comedy Night that was a complete success. Thanks to the great idea, input and effort from Keith Monti we were able to raise a substantial amount of money.
