Our Mission
Georgetown Youth Flag Football League (GYFFL) was founded in 2007 by Scott MacDonald to provide an avenue for our boys and girls to have fun while learning and understanding the various skills specific to football, the importance of teamwork and the necessity of sportsmanship. The organization provides a safe, non-contact variety of football to teach the fundamentals of the sport and perhaps serve as the impetus for some players to go on to play full football at the youth and/or high school levels.
Our Season
Registration for 2023 GYFFL season is open. Registration will close on Monday August 28th at 11:59PM. Practices will begin September 9-12th, 2023. Games will begin September 10th - 17th, 2023. Clinic and C divisions will end in early November. A and B division have playoffs and will end the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.
Eligibility
All boys and girls ages who are at least 5 years old to younger than 14 years old (Grades K-8) on September 1, 2023. Must live in Georgetown, MA and/or attend Georgetown, MA Schools or have a parent/guardian that lives in Georgetown, MA. Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis.

Program Structure (Commissioner: Stephen King)
Clinic (Co-Directors: Mike Paglia, David Millman and Keith McKittrick)
Geared toward players going into Kindergarten and 1st grade, where players participate in a weekly clinic that includes group warm-ups, instructional skills and drills covering basic fundamentals, as well as a short scrimmage each week. Mouthpiece required. Cleats recommended. NFL style jersey and flag belt provided.
Ages: 5 & 6 (Kindergarten and 1st Grade Boys and Girls)
When: Sundays, 4:30-6pm (Practice/Games) (starting Sunday, September 10th, 2023)
Where: Georgetown Middle/High School Turf Field
C Division (Co-Directors: Jason Nadeau, Jarrod Fuller and Stephen King)
Our players going into 2nd and 3rd grade, participate in a weekly clinic that includes group warm-ups, instructional skills and drills covering basic fundamentals, followed by a team warm-up and game. The score of games is not recorded, so there are no standings or playoffs. The focus of this age level is to further player development by building on previously learned skills and introducing additional aspects of the game. Practices are typically run in a group format for the entire age level using a rotating “stations” approach. Throuoghout the season this will transition to team time to practice offensive plays, etc. Mouthpiece required. Cleats highly recommended. NFL style jersey and flag belt provided.
Ages: 7 & 8 (2nd and 3rd Grade Boys and Girls)
Practice/Games: Wednesdays 6-7:30pm or 6:30-8:00pm (starting Wednesday, September 13th, 2023) at Georgetown Middle/High School Turf Field. Days/times subject to change due to field restrictions.
Schedule: Will be distributed following team selection
B Division (Directors: Ray Lamonica)
For players going into 4th and 5th grade, participate in a weekly competitive league game as well as separate weekly training sessions. Although game scores are kept, the focus of this age level is to further player development by continuing to build on previously learned skills and introducing more of the finer points of the game. Coaches are instructed to give players exposure and experience to most positions on both offense and defense whenever possible. Practices are typically run in a team format to allow the team to learn to call and run plays without the coaches assistance. Games allow for the players to become independent while on the field executing plays based on coaches instruction from the sidelines. Playoffs are held at the conclusion of the regular season and a B Division champion is crowned. Mouthpiece required. Cleats highly recommended. NFL style jersey and flag belt provided.
Ages: 9 & 10 (4th and 5th Grade Boys and Girls)
Games: Sundays 11a/12/1/2pm (starting Sunday, September, 17th, 2023) at Georgetown Middle/High School Turf Field. Days/times subject to change due to field restrictions.
Practice: Tuesdays 7:30-8:30 pm (first practice will be Sunday, September 10th, 2023 and/or Tuesday, September 12th, 2023) and/or 1 hour prior to Games at Georgetown Middle/High School Turf Field (Based on coaches availability)
Schedule: Will be distributed following team selection
A Division (Co-Directors: Pete Lucido and David Twiss)
Players going into 6th, 7th and 8th grade participate in a weekly league game as well as an additional team practice. As the boys and girls in this division are hitting their strides athletically, these games can be fast-paced and highly competitive. Team practices typically focus on further honing of skills and refining the execution of offensive and defensive game plans and strategies. Playoffs are held at the conclusion of the regular season and an A Division champion is crowned. Mouthpiece required. Cleats highly recommended. NFL style jersey and flag belt provided.
Ages: 11-13 (6th, 7th and 8th Grade Boys and Girls)
Games: Saturdays 5:30/6:30/7:30pm and Sunday 6:30 and 7:30pm (starting Saturday, September, 16th, 2023) at Georgetown Middle/High School Turf.
Field. Days/times subject to change due to field restrictions.
Practice: 1 hour prior to Games or during a weekday (at coaches discretion) at Georgetown Middle/High School Turf Field. First Practice will be held on Saturday, September, 9th, 2023.
Schedule: Will be distributed following team selection
