COVID-19 Update - 1/15/2021

If you have questions about a particular sport's upcoming season, please contact that sport's Board Members.

GAA supports the effort of the town to re-open our athletic fields to allow for passive recreation and the return of sports.  Any GAA sport returning to play will be asked to implement return to play protocols in line with town, state, and youth sports governing bodies requirements.

We encourage all to play safely and in line with state and local guidelines.

Covid-19 Information
Posted Mar 13, 2020

Dear GAA Member,

In concern for the well-being and safety of our players, coaches, game officials and their families, the GAA has been monitoring the Coronavirus situation and we wanted to briefly update our members about what this means for spring sports in our area. We are currently following guidance from respected medical professionals, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), government agencies, and all leagues associated with the GAA, to stay on top of this evolving situation.

According to the most recent information from the CDC, for most people, the immediate risk of being exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to be low. With that said, we know reports are changing daily. You will be updated by your respective spring sports about any impacts to games, events and future playoffs scheduled for this upcoming season.

To reinforce health safety and best practices for illness prevention, please read the list below:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth prior to proper washing or disinfecting.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.
  • CDC recommended facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

Please see the following additional resources and communications which may provide further answers to your questions.
